For many years researchers have suggested that pets are good for us, even offering health benefits such as lowering blood pressure and heart rate, reducing the stress hormone cortisol, and boosting levels of the feel-good hormone, serotonin. At Home from home dementia day care we believe that animals play a vital part in the positive mental well-being of people with dementia, therefore we are proud to have a resident budgie, fish and a dog who visits frequently. People with dementia enjoy caring for them as hobbies and they also enjoy the comfort that the pets give.

Listening to music and singing along to songs, as well as enjoying our range of musical instruments can have a massive positive effect for people living with dementia.
That is why we dedicate part of our day to music!
In our purpose built bungalow we get to know the people with dementia and base our activities around their own previous careers, and current interests. Engaging in a meaningful activity can have a positive impact on peoples mood.
Popular activities include, but are not limited to: gardening, painting, baking, and crafts
